RN Float Pool Critical Care (ICU), West Penn Hospital

West Penn Hospital’s Float Pool consists of highly trained RNs who cover all areas within their specialty and clinical expertise. The group includes the 16‑bed Burn unit (adult & pediatric), 14‑bed Medical ICU (sepsis, general, DKA, respiratory), and 12‑bed Surgical ICU (general surgical, vascular, bariatric, cardiogenic shock, obstetrical).

This position offers a $7/hour additional allowance on top of the base rate per West Penn CBA.

Qualifications

• 2 years acute care nursing experience required in ICU
• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi‑state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association (preferred)
• NIH Stroke certification (preferred)
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally directs and manages the activities of patient‑care delivery by team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
