Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking an Acute Care NP/PA/CNS for the Medical ICU III team on a PRN basis. The role focuses on critical care for adults with life-threatening illnesses, with 13 shifts per month in a 12‑hour day/night rotation, under the supervision of an attending intensivist on site 24/7.

Position requires national APRN or PA certification and ongoing credentialing; duties include ICU rounding, procedures, prescriptions, and collaboration with the care team to ensure

Qualifications

• MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for APRN track.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN program with NP/ CNS credentialing.
• PA track requires Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and licensure.

Responsibilities

• Conducts history and physicals, initiates labs and tests, and develops diagnoses and treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.
• Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by hospital committees.
• May prescribe and monitor medications following state rules and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Educates patients, answers questions about disease and treatments, and promotes evidence-based practice.
• Participates in medical rounds, collaborates with nurses and other clinicians, and ensures continuity of care.
• Supports discharge planning and quality monitoring to optimize patient outcomes.
• Onboards new caregivers and may act as clinical preceptor for students.
