Job summary

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a compassionate Milieu Counselor (PRN) to support clients in our Crisis Stabilization Unit. You will provide oversight for short-term care, work in a fast-paced environment, and participate in group and individual activities, meals, and safety checks onsite.

Shifts are 10 hours, including day, swing, and overnight options. A 10% PRN differential applies, with additional shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills essential.
• Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of treatment and disposition plans.
• Provide crisis and behavior management/de-escalation interventions as needed.
• Develop and facilitate daily psychoeducational groups.
• Collaborate with clients to identify strengths and unmet needs for recovery.
• Assist with intake procedures including documentation and orientation to the facility.
• Assist with discharge procedures.
• Conduct individual check-ins with clients and advocate to ensure team understanding of needs.
• Provide trauma-informed interventions to minimize harm and empower clients.
