Job summary

Universal Health Services in West Columbia, SC seeks a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to support clinical teams and ensure patient program schedules run as planned. You will engage with patients therapeutically and help maintain boundaries and a safe environment.

Responsibilities include documenting patient behavior, assisting with activity schedules, and supporting nurses in psychiatric and physical care across inpatient settings. A team-oriented, compassionate approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience in healthcare or behavioral health related field in lieu of Associates or Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• The Mental Health Technician (MHT) works closely with all members of the clinical treatment team and ensures the patient program schedule is carried out as planned.
• Interacts with patients in a therapeutic manner at all times and assists staff to maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Assists with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting room searches, and reporting unsafe conditions.
