Nationwide Children's Hospital Inc is seeking a Mental Health Specialist I for the Psychiatric Crisis Department on day shift. The role starts at $20.16/hour with a weekend premium of $1.80 per hour; 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE) or 24 hours (0.6 FTE) with every other weekend required.

Position requires BLS, TCI, and First Aid certifications within 90 days and ongoing as a condition of hire. The incumbent will float to other Behavioral Health nursing units as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Current enrollment in and completion of half a Psychology, Social Work, or related undergraduate program, or equivalent experience, required.
• BLS certification required prior to finishing unit-based orientation (within 90 days of hire).
• TCI certification provided by the organization, required prior to finishing unit-based orientation (within 90 days of hire).
• First Aid certification by the organization, required prior to finishing unit-based orientation (within 90 days of hire).

• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Provides trauma-informed care and de-escalation to maintain safety.
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
