We are looking for a full-time, passionate individual to fill the Crisis Intervention Screener position in the Four County area! This second shift position will work the hours of 3pm-11pm or 4pm-12am with rotating weekends. The Crisis Intervention Screener works under the supervision of the Program or Clinical Manager and is responsible for providing emergency mental health services, crisis intervention, mental health assessments and information and referral assistance to individuals within the service area. This position is also responsive to the needs of clients, families, referral sources and others in the community. We are dedicated in building your skillset as a professional while working to ensure a healthy work/life balance. Flexible scheduling is available. This position offers an hourly rate plus a shift differential and rotating weekend on-call pay!

This is an hourly position with hours and schedule established to complete the required duties. This position is not exempt from wage and hour regulations as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor and is therefore granted protections under the Wage and Hour Division of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or counseling
  • LSW, LPC Required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • One year of experience working with a similar population

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Screening activities on the phone, computer, or in person.
  • Answers all calls and aids callers in determining their needs.
  • Provide callers with information, referrals, or crisis assistance, as needed.
  • Advocate for callers who are unable to do so for themselves.
  • Respond, as necessary and trained, to effectively de-escalate callers who are at risk of harming themselves and/or others.
  • Communicates with community programs and providers to aid callers.
  • Operates the database.
  • Maintains caller records according to protocol.
  • Perform screener activities off-site.
  • Perform pre-hospitalization screenings and crisis intervention for clients, as deemed necessary to fulfill client, agency and community needs.
  • Oversee legal and civil commitment issues of clients, assuring procedures are followed.
  • Travel, as needed, to provide crisis intervention and pre-hospitalization screening within the area served by the agency.
  • Complete all documentation in a complete and timely manner and in compliance with agency standards and governing authorities.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers to facilitate the requests for assessments/services in the community.
  • Provide information and referral services.
  • Understand and follow all agency policies and procedures; consult with supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients and records in accordance with agency policy and HIPAA regulations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform job duties in a manner that’s friendly, considerate, and aligned with the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Standards of Ethical Conduct.
  • Work with community organizations in a collaborative and cooperative manner on behalf of the customer and the agency.
  • Required to work holidays, evenings, and/or weekends or alternative shifts to cover needs.
  • Willing to work with little advance notice in order to meet agency demands during a crisis.
  • Organize and plan work for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Utilize IT systems and software programs in accordance with agency policy.
  • Utilize time off in a manner consistent with agency policy.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Ability to learn and utilize the agency’s Electronic Health Record database and other electronic tools effectively and efficiently within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of mental health practices.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and partnerships available for persons served.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively function as an OhioGuidestone team member.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Possess and demonstrate effective organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities in facilities with multiple levels and without an elevator or mechanical transportation.
  • Ability to operate a computer and keyboard.
