Job summary

Harris Health System, Inc. is seeking a Crisis Intervention Nurse (CIN) to lead rapid psychiatric emergency response within a multidisciplinary team.

The CIN coordinates de-escalation, restraints when needed, assessment, stabilization, disposition and evaluation for patients across Harris Health's facilities. The CIN supports Crisis Intervention, security and Code Lavender activations, facilitates team huddles and debriefings, and contributes to quality improvement and staff education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
• Master's Degree preferred
• Licensure: Texas RN, BLS, SAMA certification or equivalent

Job Summary

The Crisis Intervention Nurse (CIN) serves as the frontrunner of the multi-disciplinary team and coordinates the execution of rapid response to psychiatric emergencies encompassing de-escalation, restraints application, response, assessment and stabilization, disposition and evaluation. The CIN facilitates and responds to Crisis Intervention, security and Code Lavender activation. The CIN operates under the guidelines of the Code Lavender or other applicable guidelines/procedures and standardized procedures. The CIN facilitates team huddles, debriefings and evaluation of the Crisis intervention, structure and process. The CIN contributes to quality and performance improvement initiatives and provides ongoing education and training to staff.

The CIN is responsible for the provision of safe and emergency patient care in a manner that is consistent with professional standards and hospital policies. The LCIN upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, mentors others, and role models professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree:

• a. Bachelor of Nursing Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
• b. Master's Degree (Preferred)

Licensure/Certification:

• a. Cert Critical Care Reg Nurse (Or) Certified Emergency Nurse
• b. Certificate: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Certification
• c. Registered Nurse: Licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
• d. Basic Life Support: From a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program
• e. Satori - Managing Aggression: Accredited Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA) certification required within 90 days of hire

Work Experience:

• a. Three (3) Years nursing experience with two (2) years inpatient psychiatric experience or 1 year psychiatric nurse practitioner
• b. One (1) year emergency room experience or previous crisis/ behavioral emergency response team background (Preferred)

Management Experience:

• a. One (1) Year of Management Experience
