Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree from an accredited school.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • RN licensure in Texas with current state registration.
  • Certification: Critical Care RN or Certified Emergency Nurse.
  • Certification: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
  • Satori - Managing Aggression (SAMA) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate rapid response to psychiatric emergencies including de-escalation and stabilization.
  • Lead crisis intervention, security coordination, and Code Lavender activations.
  • Facilitate team huddles, debriefings, and process evaluation.

Job Summary

The Crisis Intervention Nurse (CIN) serves as the frontrunner of the multi-disciplinary team and coordinates the execution of rapid response to psychiatric emergencies encompassing de-escalation, restraints application, response, assessment and stabilization, disposition and evaluation. The CIN facilitates and responds to Crisis Intervention, security and Code Lavender activation. The CIN operates under the guidelines of the Code Lavender or other applicable guidelines/procedures and standardized procedures. The CIN facilitates team huddles, debriefings and evaluation of the Crisis intervention, structure and process. The CIN contributes to quality and performance improvement initiatives and provides ongoing education and training to staff. The CIN is responsible for the provision of safe and emergency patient care in a manner that is consistent with professional standards and hospital policies. The LCIN upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, mentors others, and role models professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree: Graduate of an accredited school
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
Licensure/Certification
  • Cert Critical Care Reg Nurse (Or) Certified Emergency Nurse
  • Certificate: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Certification
  • Registered Nurse: Licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
  • Basic Life Support: From a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross approved program
  • Satori - Managing Aggression: Accredited Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression (SAMA) certification required within 90 days of hire
Work Experience
  • Three (3) Years nursing experience with two (2) years inpatient psychiatric experience or 1 year psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • One (1) year emergency room experience or previous crisis/ behavioral emergency response team background (Preferred)

  • One (1) Year of Management Experience
