Job summary

The Salvation Army Southwest Division in Las Vegas is seeking a full-time Non-Exempt housing and service program specialist. This role conducts comprehensive participant assessments, intensive case management, and develops individualized housing plans for clients in crisis, ensuring confidentiality and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications include a BA/BS in social work or related field, 4 years’ crisis experience, HMIS knowledge, and a valid Nevada driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related discipline.
• Four years’ experience working with clients in crisis and the ability to resolve crises.
• Knowledge of community resources, especially housing for low-income individuals.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, e-mail, Adobe Acrobat and the internet.
• Excellent interpersonal, telephone and written/verbal communication skills.
• Strong detail, organization and file management skills.
• Demonstrated dependability, maturity, initiative; maintain confidentiality.
• Able to work alone and as part of a team.
• Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Able to work with diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of HMIS (Homeless Management Information System).
• Bilingual preferred.
• Nevada driver’s license and clean MVR.
• Reliable transportation.
• Able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of potential program participants.
• Conduct intensive case management with the most vulnerable population.
• Develop Individualized Housing and Service Plans for each participant.
• Develop and maintain program, property, and general files.
• Find temporary housing opportunities and identify permanent housing options.
• Determine and recommend level of financial assistance.
• Provide case management services and referrals; track progress.
• Prepare requests for financial assistance and submit documentation.
• Interface with landlords to mitigate issues and advocate.
• Facilitate rental agreements and ensure understanding of policies.
• Manage and track financial assistance funds.
• Collaborate with departments to maximize outcomes.
• Submit monthly and grant reports.
• Make follow-up contacts to ensure client compliance.
• Attend staff and community meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
