Heritage Behavioral Health Center is seeking compassionate, dedicated Crisis Counselors to join our Crisis Care Team. These full‑time positions provide life‑changing support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises in a variety of community settings—including emergency departments, community agencies, and client homes.

Our Crisis Care program responds to anyone, anywhere, and at any time, offering timely assessment, de‑escalation, counseling, linkage to services, and aftercare support. Crisis Counselors play a vital role in helping individuals experiencing distress such as depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, or other behavioral health needs.

What You’ll Do

• Provide face‑to‑face, phone, and virtual crisis intervention in a timely and supportive manner
• Work with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of crisis situations
• Engage individuals admitted to inpatient psychiatric settings and link them to community supports
• Assist with involuntary admission processes at the Macon County Court
• Complete pre‑admission screening assessments for nursing facility referrals
• Maintain strong relationships with referral sources and partner agencies
• Collaborate with internal and external providers—including crisis teams, case managers, counselors, psychiatric providers, and clinical leaders to ensure coordinated, effective care

• Understanding of psychiatry, medical services, and community resources

• Ability to work independently in the community and collaboratively within a team
• Ability to navigate an electronic health record
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Commitment to ongoing learning and growth

Education & Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human services‑related field (required)
• Must meet criteria to function at minimum as a Mental Health Professional (MHP)
• Master’s‑level Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) must obtain licensure within 2 years of employment
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance required
• Experience in crisis services strongly preferred

Salary Range

$47,840 – $75,000 per year (Dependent on education and experience)
