Job Title:

Crisis Counselor (Child & Youth)

Job Summary:

Provide face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing a mental health emergency, in the least restrictive manner.

Schedule Available:

Wednesday through Sunday, 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct crisis assessments and interventions for psychiatric emergencies.
  2. Assess and implement the least restrictive alternatives for consumers in crisis.
  3. Refer to hospitalization facilities when necessary.
  4. Refer to Diversion Services with appropriate clinical information.
  5. Participate in supervisory consultations regarding care disposition.
  6. Provide follow-up services as per policies and Title 33.
  7. Develop individualized crisis plans for consumers.
  8. Respond promptly to face-to-face assessment requests.
  9. Maintain excellent customer service skills.
  10. Assist with triage calls and provide telephone counseling as needed.
  11. Accurately document all clinical records.
  12. Coordinate with care management teams and provide consultation.
  13. Assist community agencies with information, dispositions, and education about crisis services.
  14. Support team members as needed.
Requirements:
  1. Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field, with specialized crisis intervention training.
  2. Valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
  3. Licensure or license eligibility (e.g., LMSW, LPC, LMFT), with intent to obtain provisional license within 1-2 years.
  4. Comfort with community outreach and responding to crisis calls.
  5. Acceptable criminal background check.
  6. Personal automobile insurance and a cell phone.
