Job summary

WellSpan Philhaven in Mt. Gretna, PA seeks a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Counselor to assist with triage, conduct clinical assessments, and coordinate care with providers and community resources.

This full-time role involves night shifts, every-other weekend, and holidays, with crisis intervention responsibilities and documentation to support admission and treatment authorization.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal and communication skills to manage admissions and counsel patients.
• Ability to advise, counsel, and lead staff in policy compliance.
• Analytical skills to determine crisis solutions and service options.
• Knowledge of patient care across age groups and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Triages service requests and provides prompt, appropriate assistance.
• Completes documentation using approved forms and systems.
• Performs pre-certifications and authorizations with payers when required.
• Conducts structured clinical assessments and documents findings.
• Determines level of care based on history, presentation, and funding.
• Assists with admissions transition and coordinates with psychiatrists and other providers.
