Job summary

CRIMINAL RECORDS SPECIALIST
Salary: $41,484.56 - $55,006.43

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking motivated individuals for our Criminal Records Specialist positions who are responsible for performing skilled data entry, file searches, maintenance and retrieval of criminal justice reports, records and other related materials. Performs complex record keeping, filing duties, compilation of statistics and general clerical work. Information retrieved and released must be accurate and released only to authorized personnel. Performs related duties as assigned. This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies over the life of the list.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires one (1) year of clerical experience to include word processing or data entry skills. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain ACJIS Terminal Operator Certification within six months of hire, and maintain certification throughout the course of this assignment with the Department. May be required to travel to perform certain work functions. Holidays, weekends and shift work may be required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office setting. Bending, stooping, kneeling and/or squatting to access or file records may be required. Moving items up to 40 pounds from one location to another may be required. May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Progression to the next pay step requires an overall performance rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing. If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement
