Job summary

The Valley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office seeks an attorney to serve as Deputy Criminal Prosecutor in the criminal division, primarily handling misdemeanor and infraction cases. The role reviews police reports, determines charging, and guides cases through all stages of prosecution, from initial appearances to trials.

The Deputy Prosecutor works with law enforcement, supports 24/7 on-call rotations, assists the Chief Deputy in absence, and collaborates with the Victim/Witness Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Idaho State Bar license in good standing.
• Experience in criminal prosecution or trial work preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication; ability to handle high-volume caseloads.

Responsibilities

• Review police reports and determine charging decisions.
• Direct cases through all stages of judicial proceedings, from initial appearances to trials.
• Handle misdemeanor, juvenile, and infraction matters plus appellate work.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, Victim/Witness Coordinator, and Chief Deputy Prosecutor.
