Job summary

Erie 1 BOCES is seeking a Criminal Justice Teacher for the Career and Technical Education program at the Harkness Center. The role involves delivering instruction in criminal justice, law enforcement, and workplace readiness to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, teaching university-level content within state standards, collaborating with academic teachers, and fostering industry partnerships for internships.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of criminal justice, law enforcement, public safety, or related fields with effective instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to create engaging, real-world learning experiences, communicate effectively, and build partnerships with local agencies and community organizations.
• Experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections, security, or public safety, as well as with secondary students, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teaches Career and Technical skills and knowledge and employability skills to prepare students for the world of work or post-secondary education.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication, and state standards as specified by NYS law and district procedures.
• Plans and develops goals, objectives, curricula, and reports; develops lesson plans and manages class time effectively.
• Demonstrates materials, equipment, tools, and processes using models, mock-ups, or instructional aids.
• Guides pupils in selecting and performing appropriate activities; provides individual and group instruction as needed.
