Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Criminal Investigator 2 for the South Region to investigate youth-related offenses across designated counties in Georgia. The role requires travel within the assigned area and potential travel outside it, with duties including evidence collection, interviews, and preparation of reports.

Sworn positions require PAT after July 1, 2026, with formal training during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and one (1) year of related experience.
• Or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and three (3) years of experience in law enforcement or related field; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Criminal Investigator 1 (PSP090) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Investigate alleged or suspected violations and determine if evidence warrants prosecution.
• Travel within assigned area; may travel outside the area and respond to State of Emergency requests.
• Collaborate with authorities on surveillance, transcription, and research.
• Develop investigative plans for each investigation; interview parents, guardians, or court service workers.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement to facilitate investigations and maintain case files.
