Job summary

Wake County's Bureau of Forensic Services is seeking an Assistant Crime Scene Supervisor to lead investigative operations and supervise a team of Crime Scene Investigators in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on coordinating scene response, evidence collection, and laboratory processing while ensuring chain of custody and report accuracy.

A strong background in forensic science and leadership is required, with a 24/7 rotating shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in forensic-related field.
• Minimum two years in crime scene investigation or related law enforcement work.
• IAI Crime Scene Certification within 1 year of eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Interview witnesses, victims, and officers to define investigative scope.
• Investigate scenes within Wake County at law enforcement request.
• Identify, collect, package, and transport physical evidence.
• Maintain chain of custody for all evidence.
• Process and test evidence in a laboratory using forensic techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports and assist in identifying individuals.
• Provide day-to-day supervision of CSI staff in absence of the Squad Supervisor.
• Review reports and legal documents submitted by CSI staff.
