Job summary

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit is seeking a motivated Forensic Technician. The role focuses on latent print processing, crime scene investigation, photography, and evidence evaluation, performed on-site in Spokane County, WA.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in forensic science or related fields, or a science degree with relevant forensic knowledge, and possess strong documentation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in forensic science, natural science, criminal justice or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in any field and knowledge of basic crime scenes or latent prints.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Process and document crime scenes with or without assistance, including photography and evidence collection.
• Recognize evidentiary value of ballsistics, soils, blood, DNA, poisons, fibers, and documents.
• Process latent fingerprints using powders, chemicals, or light sources and photography.
• Run qualifying samples in Rapid DNA instrument for presumptive profile generation or matching.
• Provide employee portrait and public relations photography as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports of findings; provide testimony in court.
• Be available for evening and weekend callouts, as required.
