Job summary

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office seeks a Crime Intelligence Analyst to perform crime and intelligence analysis, report trends and present findings. The role requires no supervision and supports ongoing investigations and planning efforts.

Responsibilities include data collection and analysis from multiple sources, creating maps and charts, and presenting results to command staff. A Bachelor's degree and CJIS eligibility are required; occasional overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Criminal Justice or related field plus one year experience in public administration, law enforcement or related field.
• Proficient knowledge of law enforcement operations and procedures; knowledge of law enforcement systems and software, crime analysis methodologies and reporting methods.
• Skill in using a PC and software such as GIS and graphic design concepts.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, and present to groups, with CJIS eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes and distributes data from numerous law enforcement sources into actionable criminal intelligence.
• Coordinates information, analyzes and prioritizes data; assesses reliability and validity.
• Develops link analysis, time/temporal analysis, telephone toll analysis, crime maps and charts for investigations.
• Prepares reports, charts and maps for management review and field operations use.
• Facilitates transfer of crime information between local and regional facilities.
• Maintains intelligence database and reviews publications.
• May testify regarding methodologies in court or official proceedings.
