Job summary

The City of Richmond Police Department is seeking self-directed and detail-oriented candidates for the position of Crime Analyst. This role performs administrative, strategic and primarily tactical crime analysis including investigative, intelligence, and social networking analysis.

The incumbent will compile, analyze, and disseminate data/reports on crime trends and intelligence, working across the police hierarchy as a non-sworn analyst.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forensic science, criminal justice, police science, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performing analysis using various research methods and tools to track crime incidents.
  • Compile complex statistical reports, identify crime and forecast trends for the community.
  • Comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, procedures and related information in a law enforcement environment.
  • Assist investigators in casework utilizing law enforcement databases and tools.
