Job summary

Tri State Paving is seeking a Crew Supervisor to act as the company’s on-site representative and primary contact on restoration sites. You will lead crews engaged in asphalt spread, roll, patch, and associated concrete work, ensuring timely execution and safety compliance.

Responsibilities include coordinating communications between client representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, and crew, and maintaining thorough records of labor, materials, and costs.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Crew Supervisor is considered the Company’s representative and the main point of contact on the restoration site. They coordinate activities of workers engaged in spreading, rolling, tamping, and patching asphalt, forming and placing concrete where needed, and placing similar material to highway surfaces, streets, parking lots, driveways, etc. They provide overall on-site leadership and management. The Crew Supervisor handles the flow of communication between Client’s on-site representatives, on-site inspectors, subcontractors, and craft employees.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans, coordinates, and supervises all onsite functions including scheduling, material control, and day-to-day direction of field personnel;
• Reviews and adheres to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met;
• Reads and executes plans and specifications (application rates, grades, slope, drainage, etc.);
• Calculates material requirements for projects and related costs for efficient utilization;
• Observes asphalt, concrete and subgrade to determine potential quality control issues and applies necessary corrections. Specifically, identifying segregation, drainage issues, densities, and other quality concerns of the job;
• Documents and maintains labor, haul, equipment, production and cost information;
• Oversees proper loading and unloading of equipment, transportation to and from job sites;
• Identifies and executes best practices concerning the efficient use of construction materials;
• Completes all assigned work orders on a daily basis and other required paperwork including job location, tons of asphalt laid, yards of concrete placed, employee time, and any problems encountered;
• Ensures a solid understanding of, and complies with, the principles of the company’s Safety Manual and Code of Safe Practices as well as the Fleet Safety Management Guidelines and Policies;
• Coordinates with inspectors, work crew, truck drivers, and concrete plant;
• Effectively communicates and shares information with the team and management;
• Completes reports of issues or necessary repairs and forwards to Safety & Fleet Manager;
• Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions;
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws;
• Ensures compliance with all health, and safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures;
• Ensures all equipment is safe and efficient and in accordance with all relevant industry standards, policies, and site procedures to minimize risk of injury, property damage or loss of life;
• Trains new employees in safe, productive and efficient work processes;
• Instructs crewmembers in a professional manner in order to relay expectations and instills motivation;
• Handles and thoroughly investigates all employee concerns;
• Participates as a vital team member and contributes toward the success of the company;
• Leads by example; and
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
