Job summary

The Arc of Palm Beach County is seeking a hands-on Supervisor responsible for the training, supervision, and welfare of individuals with disabilities engaged in contracted community work.

The role encompasses directing crews at work sites, delivering training, ensuring quality and safety, and acting as an advocate within the community while coordinating with contract management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in janitorial/maintenance with individuals with disabilities preferred.
• Valid driver license with clean driving record.
• FDOT certification is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and works with individuals with disabilities at the work site.
• Provides training and retraining as needed.
• Inspects completed work for quality assurance.
• Provides hands-on assistance during tasks.
• Ensures health and safety practices are followed.
• Maintains contact with contract personnel and ensures contract requirements are met.
• Makes environmental modifications to aid performance.
• Counsels individuals to minimize social or behavioral issues.
• Advocates for individuals at the work site and in the community.
• Maintains positive relationships with staff, agencies, vendors, donors, and funders.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Summary

The Supervisor is a \"Hands on\" working supervisor responsible for the training, supervision and welfare of the assigned individual's w/disabilities working in the community performing contracted work.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Supervises and works with individuals w/disabilities (crew members) at the work site.
• Provides crew members training and retraining when necessary.
• Provides quality assurance by inspecting completed work assignment.
• Provides hands-on assistance to crew members while engaged in work assignment.
• Ensures that optimal health and safety practices are being followed at all times.
• Maintains contact with contract personnel to ensure contract requirements are being met.
• Makes environmental modifications at the work site which will assist the individual in better performing work duties.
• Maintains ongoing contact with appropriate supported employment staff.
• Provides direct counseling to the individual to minimize social, emotional or behavior problems.
• Serves as an advocate for the individual at the work site/community.
• Maintains a positive relationship with contract management, employees and others at the work/site community.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Possess a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years supervisory experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and qualify for Level II background screen.
• Prefer two (2) years’ experience in janitorial or maintenance setting serving individuals with disabilities.
• One (1) year of college may substitute for each year of experience up to four (4) years.
• Valid driver license, clean driving record and ability to meet the standards for FDOT certification as condition of employment.
