Summary

Complies with all principles of Human Rights, D.P.P.C., Department of Developmental Services, the Division of Medical Assistance and all other applicable funding regulations as adhered to by Lifeworks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small group instruction in self‑care, activities of daily living, communication, social and motor skills.
  • Provide direct care for ADLs and group activities; lift and transfer individuals as appropriate to their needs.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision sessions with Assistant Director. Communicate respectfully and pro‑actively with families, residential staff and all members of participants’ teams.
  • Participate in program‑wide staff meetings and case review meetings as scheduled. Participate in team meetings regarding general program development, including curriculum development and schedules.
  • Attend in‑service trainings as required.
  • Comply with all applicable State and Federal regulations, agency policy and procedures, and personnel practices.
  • Protect the health and safety of all participants and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor(s).

Qualifications
  • Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Direct experience working with individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families preferred.
  • Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of individuals or employees of an organization.
  • Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Vehicle/Travel Requires a legally insured and inspected automobile for use to be presented at work and available for use during working hours. If the program has an agency vehicle, staff are expected to drive it as needed.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid and current driver’s license from the state of residency, CPR, First Aid certification.
