Job summary

Tropical Smoothie Café in Aberdeen, SD is hiring for full- and part-time Crew Members and Shift Leads. Shifts run Mon–Fri 7am–9pm, Sat 8am–9pm, Sun 8am–9pm. Pay starts at $12/hr plus tips for Crew; Shift Leads start at $15/hr plus tips. Food and drink discounts are provided.

No fryers; career advancement opportunities exist. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; ages 14 and up may apply.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with crew members and customers using Tropitude and delivers hospitality.
• Prepares ingredients for food and smoothies.
• Assembles and serves fresh food and smoothies to Tropical Smoothie Cafe standards.
• Uses sanitation practices to handle and prepare food.
• Sets up and monitors food and smoothie work stations.
• Cleans and organizes kitchen, dining room, restrooms and cafe areas.
• Follows the steps to operate the register, take orders, handle cash, and manage the drawer.
• Follows safety and security policies set by the brand.
• Performs any additional tasks necessary to run the cafe.

Job description

We are starting to hire for full/part time employees including shift leads. All shifts are available at this time. Cafe hours will be mon-Fri 7am-9pm, Saturday 8am-9pm, and Sunday 8am-9pm. Pay will depend on experience, raises will be given based on performance, and employees also receive tips. We hire ages 14 and up. We don’t have any fryers and these positions have potential for career advancement as well. Employees will also receive food and drink discounts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Interacts with crew members and customers using ‘Tropitude’ (Tropitude is our “mojo” and what makes Tropical Smoothie Café fun and different. It means having energy and creating a positive atmosphere.)
• Delivers ‘Unparalleled Hospitality’ to each customer that visits our café.
• Prepares ingredients for our food and smoothies.
• Assembles and serves fresh food and smoothies prepared to Tropical Smoothie Cafes’ standards.
• Uses our sanitation practices to handle and prepare food.
• Sets up and monitors food and smoothie work stations.
• Cleans and organizes kitchen, workstations, dining room, restrooms, and any other areas in the cafe.
• Follows the steps to operate the register including taking customer orders, accurately handling cash, and being responsible for the drawer.
• Follows all safety and security policies set by the brand.
• Performs any additional tasks necessary to run the cafe.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Legally able to work within the State and Federal guidelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Continuous standing and walking throughout the duration of each shift.
• Bending, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds to perform duties like stocking, refilling ice, or taking out trash.
• Constant face-to-face interactions with crew members and customers.
• Safely navigate in a fast-paced cafe environment.
• Ability to multi-task and remain positive in sometimes stressful working conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Most shifts are between four and eight hours, but this may vary.
• Crew Members can expect to have some early mornings, late evenings, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
• Comply with the Tropical Smoothie Cafe uniform and personal hygiene polices for each shift.
• Fun, fast paced, upbeat environment with no fryers!
