Job summary

Carr’s Tree Service in Minnesota seeks an experienced Crew Leader to guide daily tree care operations and develop high-performing crews. You will lead safety meetings, supervise 1–4 crew members, and coordinate trimming, pruning, and removal tasks while maintaining quality and productivity.

The role requires strong communication, OSHA/ANSI safety knowledge, and the ability to work extended hours, weekends, or storm events as needed. CDL and forestry degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience on tree trimming or clearing crews.
• Proven leadership ability and strong communication skills.
• Solid understanding of OSHA and ANSI safety standards.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Valid driver’s license, DOT medical card, and First Aid/CPR certification.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Must meet physical demands of job and work in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Lead daily safety meetings; ensure briefings and documentation; enforce safety policies and OSHA/ANSI standards.
• Leadership & Team Development: Supervise 1–4 crew members; coach and train; report performance to Foreman.

This role is ideal for someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, and takes pride in doing the job right — safely, efficiently, and professionally.Whether you’re an experienced leader ready to take the next step or a seasoned tree professional looking to grow your career, we’d like to talk with you!Submit an application today to explore the opportunities waiting for you at Carr’s Tree Service.Primary Responsibilities of a Crew Leader:Safety & ComplianceLead daily safety meetings and ensure job briefings and required documentation are completed.Enforce company safety policies and compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, and ANSI A300 standards.Ensure proper use and care of personal protective equipment (PPE).Respond to emergency situations, including first aid, CPR, and aerial rescue when required.Leadership & Team DevelopmentSupervise and lead a crew of 1–4 team members.Provide daily direction, coaching, and hands-on training.Communicate crew performance, strengths, and improvement areas with the General Foreman.Lead by example with professionalism, work ethic, and positive attitude.Tree Care OperationsPlan, oversee, and participate in tree trimming, pruning, and removal operations.Oversee all daily crew operations including but not limited to: brush chipping, brush mowing, chainsaw work, equipment operations, and site cleanup.Ensure quality, productivity, and efficiency goals are met.Customer & Landowner CommunicationCommunicate professionally with landowners, customers, utility representatives, and the public.Obtain landowner permissions and provide updates on work progress.Represent Carr’s Tree Service with integrity and professionalism at all times.Equipment Operation & MaintenanceSafely operate and maintain equipment including bucket trucks, stump grinders, skid loaders, claw trucks, and chippers.Identify equipment issues, submit reports through Fleetio, and communicate with management to minimize downtime.Administrative ResponsibilitiesComplete and submit required paperwork accurately and on time.Maintain records of work completed, maps, and job documentation.Track and report crew performance and productivity metrics.Document training and performance conversations through the company HRIS.Emergency Response & FlexibilityBe available for extended hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and storm response when needed.Adapt to changing work conditions, weather, and job priorities.Who we are:At Carr’s Tree Service, our mission is to provide safe and reliable tree services to our utility, residential, and government clients by combining teamwork, professional arboricultural practices, and an excellent customer experience at competitive prices.
