Job summary

Lewis Tree Service is seeking a Crew Leader to oversee utility vegetation management crews. You will supervise daily operations, ensure safe and efficient tree trimming and line clearance, and coordinate tasks and training. The role requires leadership, field experience, and strong safety awareness.

You will manage crew performance, conduct trainings, communicate with customers, and handle records. Travel and emergency response duties are part of the position.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in a tree crew or utility vegetation management.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI Z133 Safety Requirements and A300 Pruning Standards.
• Proficiency in identifying poisonous plants and electrical circuit basics.
• Advanced in tree ascent/descent using ropes and a safety saddle; skilled in aerial lift operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily tree crew operations; ensure safe, efficient work practices; train and coach crew members.
• Plan and assign tasks based on crew skills and requirements.
• Monitor performance and manage onboarding, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain crew contact information and report availability or safety concerns to the foreman.
• Conduct field training, briefings, and ensure crew readiness; enforce safety standards.
• Identify jobsite hazards and implement safeguards; make decisions on weather-related work stoppages.
• Perform and direct tree trimming, removal, and clearance near energized lines; operate trucks, chippers, aerial lifts, and power saws.
• Communicate with property owners; explain work and obtain access; maintain records on crew performance and incidents.
• Travel as required; participate in emergency responses and support service restoration.
