Job summary

McCormick & Company, Inc. is hiring a full-time Crew Leader for the 2nd shift at the Zatarain's Gretna, LA plant. You will report to the Team Manager and oversee daily shift operations from 1:30 p.m.

to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency on the production line. The role requires at least a high school diploma, 3+ years of manufacturing experience, and strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent attendance and reliability are essential.
• Proven ability to coach, train and influence a diverse team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with production equipment and problem-solving in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall performance of the team including quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation.
• Proactively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving to boost efficiency.
• Coach, train, and ensure compliance with plant procedures, safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Ensure activities follow operating procedures and suggest updates as needed.
• Identify training needs for new and existing employees.
• Ensure product meets quality standards and coordinate with QA on inspections.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to keep lines running.
• Perform tasks of other team members as needed and support teamwork.
• Lead production tracking meetings and team development sessions.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Team Manager, sets the example of team leadership within a HPO environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures overall performance of the team to include quality, safety, reliability, waste and sanitation to achieve business goals.
• Pro-actively encourages continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives to increase operational effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Coaches, trains, and ensures compliance to plant established procedures (including work rule, safety and sanitation guidelines) while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people.
• Ensures that all activities follow documented operating procedures and recommends updates to existing procedures as required.
• Determines needs and conducts training required for new & existing employees.
• Ensures product meets quality standards, coordinates problem solving directly with QA floor inspector.
• Resolves minor mechanical and processing problems and makes necessary adjustments to keep the line running.
• Performs job tasks of other team members of jobs of equal or lower grades.
• Facilitates teamwork and coaching among team members.
• Holds meetings for production tracking, problem solving and team development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Excellent attendance required.
• Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial experience required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance on all production equipment required.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processing problems required.
• Demonstrated ability to understand financial impact of business decision affecting staffing, product components and inventory required.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, statistical database applications & Lotus Notes required.
• Demonstrated ability to pro-actively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives required.
• Proven ability to coach, train and influence while demonstrating a deep respect for the capabilities of all people required.
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required
• Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of SAP, Infinity, Power Point, Access preferred.
• Demonstrated practice of leadership principles required and formal leadership training strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated competency to operate all equipment in the business strongly preferred.
• Experience effectively leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings strongly preferred.
