Essential Functions:
- Supervise a line clearance crew and plan daily work activities.
- Assign tasks and direct crew members according to accepted line clearance practices, adjusting as needed in the field.
- Identify poisonous plants and use proper safeguards.
- Enforce safe work practices, conduct safety training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Obtain permissions for tree trimming or removal and herbicide application; coordinate access with property owners and inform them of work details.
- Maintain good customer and public relations through professional conduct and effective work completion.
- Keep accurate records, timesheets, and reports on crew performance and work completed.
- Interpret work orders, drawings, and symbols related to electrical lines and equipment.
- Conduct safety training for personnel, aligned with client policies.
- Manage crew costs effectively, considering manpower, methods, and equipment use.
- Assess weather conditions to determine work feasibility.
- Ensure safety by setting up barriers, warning signs, and working safely around hazards and energized lines.
- Inspect trucks and equipment, request repairs, and maintain cleanliness.
- Respond to emergency situations, including hazard elimination and emergency tree work.
- Perform tree trimming and removal using climbing, ground work, and appropriate tools.
- Apply stump and brush treatments, load and unload debris, and operate related equipment.
- Perform minor repairs to lawns and fences damaged during work.
- Service tools and equipment, relay signals, direct traffic, and operate trucks and machinery.
- Train new employees on procedures.
- Work in hazardous environments near energized lines, with noise, and in various weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned, requiring a minimum of 3 years’ experience in tree trimming or related performance reviews.
- Demonstrate leadership, multitasking, and knowledge of arboricultural and electrical safety standards.
- Communicate professionally with the public and team members.
- Enforce safety practices and wear PPE as required.
- Operate vehicles and equipment, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
- Work long hours, overtime, and be available for emergency call-outs.
- Possess valid CDL, medical card, herbicide certification, First-Aid, and CPR certifications.
- Maintain compliance with all legal and company-specific licensing and certification requirements.
