Job summary

The Town of Garner's Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Lead Equipment Operator for the Streets Division (Right-of-Way). This role leads a small crew in mowing, edging, litter pickup and related tasks along town rights-of-way under supervision of the Streets Supervisor.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, NC driver’s license, Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement (or obtain within 12 months), pesticide applicator license (or obtain within 12 months), and prior crew

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Driver's license valid in NC with a good driving record.
• Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement or obtain within 12 months.
• Pesticide applicator license or obtain within 12 months.
• Sound decision making and safety compliance.
• Prior crew leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads a maintenance crew along Town Right-of-Ways and properties.
• Schedules and oversees daily field operations with supervisor.
• Operates mowing equipment, trucks and related gear.
• Responds to weather events and storm debris cleanup.
• Cleans drainage ditches and applies vegetation pesticides.
• Completes work orders and minor paperwork; performs repairs.
