Job summary

Cox Automotive in Elkridge, MD is seeking a Driver Supervisor to coordinate a team of shuttle drivers and manage daily vehicle movement, ensuring timely pickups and safe operation.

You will mentor staff, assign tasks, monitor performance, enforce policies, and work with management to optimize staffing and service quality. Overtime may be required. The role also involves coordinating with supervisors to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, with 3 years related experience or 5 years in related discipline.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Safe driving record preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Orient and instruct new drivers and assist supervisor in directing work.
  • Communicate with supervisor to assure proper flow of vehicles and maintain log of stock numbers and locations.
  • Schedule and assign crew members.
  • Manage vans and transport drivers to locations; ensure timely pick-up and drop-off.
  • Shuttle employees to parking lots and remote sites; transport inventoried vehicles.
  • Pickup/drop-off employees and Auction personnel to/from various locations.
  • Perform daily vehicle maintenance and checks; service with fuel and lubricants.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment and work with Safety Manager on safety activities.
  • Review work volumes with manager; monitor staffing for efficiency and quality; develop improvement plans.
  • Lead the team at the location; enforce company policies and respectful conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; overtime may be required.

  • Orient and instruct new drivers regarding their job duties and assist supervisor in assigning and directing the work of employees.
  • Communicate with supervisor or manager to assure proper flow of vehicles and maintain log of stock numbers for each vehicle moved and its lot location.
  • Communicate schedules and assignments to the crew members.
  • Manage vans and transport drivers to locations. Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles by transporting them according to schedule to their proper work destinations.
  • Shuttle employees to and from auxiliary parking lots on sale days; provide transportation to employees parking inventoried vehicles at remote sites.
  • Pick-up and drop-off employees and other Auction personnel to/from the Auction, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations/businesses, and other locations.
  • Perform daily maintenance and routine checks of the van and clean and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with Market Safety Manager in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
  • Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
  • OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; OR 5 years' experience in a related discipline.
  • Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required.
Schedule
  • Tuesday-Saturday
  • 7:00am - 4:00pm

  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

To be employed in this role, you'll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $16.63 - $24.90/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
