Job summary

Cox Automotive Inc. is seeking a transportation/crew lead to orient drivers, coordinate vehicle movements, and ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs. You will supervise shuttle operations, perform basic vehicle maintenance, and uphold safety policies across shifts.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to schedules, and communication with supervisors to optimize workflow and customer service. A valid license and relevant experience are required, with overtime possible as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; 3 years' related field experience.
• Or alternative: any degree/certification beyond HS; OR 5 years related discipline experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Orient and instruct new drivers regarding their duties and assist supervisor in assigning work.
• Maintain flow of vehicles and log stock numbers for each vehicle moved and its lot location.
• Communicate schedules and assignments to crew members.
• Manage vans and transport drivers to locations; ensure timely pick-up/drop-off according to schedule.
• Perform daily vehicle maintenance and service with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
• Demonstrate safety commitment and work with Market Safety Manager to support safety activities.
• Review work volumes with manager and help plan staffing for efficiency and service.
• Lead location staff by example and enforce company policies.

• Orient and instruct new drivers regarding their job duties and assist supervisor in assigning and directing the work of employees.
• Communicate with supervisor or manager to assure proper flow of vehicles and maintain log of stock numbers for each vehicle moved and its lot location.
• Communicate schedules and assignments to the crew members.
• Manage vans and transport drivers to locations. Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of employees and vehicles by transporting them according to schedule to their proper work destinations.
• Shuttle employees to and from auxiliary parking lots on sale days; provide transportation to employees parking inventoried vehicles at remote sites.
• Pick-up and drop-off employees and other Auction personnel to/from the Auction, parking lots, dealerships, customer locations/businesses, and other locations.
• Perform daily maintenance and routine checks of the van and clean and service the vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with Market Safety Manager in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Work with manager to review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
• Effectively leads the team at the location by setting an example in behavior, championing Cox/Manheim values and ensuring that all employees are treated with respect.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
• OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; OR 5 years' experience in a related discipline.
• Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

USD 15.10 - 22.69 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $15.10 - $22.69/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

• Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
• Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
