Crew Chief Responsibilities

The Crew Chief is responsible for performing duties of overseeing crews of field laborers and operators to achieve maximum and continued productivity while maintaining and being responsible for all equipment used.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring the safe operation of equipment, trucks, and the safety of their crews.
2. Making recommendations regarding hiring, firing, promotion, demotion, transfer, and compensation of crew members.
3. Evaluating crew members’ performance.
4. Disciplining crew members when appropriate.

Working conditions involve:

• High exposure to outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid, cold, hot, and more).
• Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving during working hours.
• May be required to work outside regular working hours, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a clean Texas Driver License.
• Have a clean driving record.
• Be capable of safely driving and inspecting large vehicles.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment DOT screening, which also includes a drug screening and a Motor Vehicle Report.
