Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking a Survey Crew Chief in Raleigh, North Carolina to lead survey activities and ensure accurate data collection. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in boundary and construction staking surveys, and will demonstrate effective communication with contractors and team members.

Job Description

• Commute to and from sites daily in a company-provided truck.
• Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys.
• Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
• Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
• Review survey field calculations and adjust when needed.
• Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control.
• Utilize Trimble equipment to measure all utility points including curb and gutter, water & sewer, storm drain, and paving.
• Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
• Maintain work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
• Follow Atwell’s safety protocols.
• Read and interpret engineering plans.
• Assist crew members’ new hire training, career planning, and continuous professional development.
• Motivate the crew with spot bonuses and peer recognition rewards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role performing boundary, ALTA, Asbuilt, and Construction Staking surveys.
• Effective communication with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders.
• Experience with Trimble equipment (preferred).
