Job summary

Bank of America in Chicago, IL seeks an experienced Commercial Banking Underwriter to manage a portfolio of clients and lead loan structuring and documentation in collaboration with RM and Risk teams.

You will deliver financial modeling, industry and economic analyses, review junior staff work, and ensure compliance with laws, regulations and policy procedures. Strong communication and analytical skills are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of solid experience in Commercial Banking Underwriting (Middle Market or Large Corporate or Leveraged Finance) performing financial analysis, structuring, and portfolio management.
• Strong communication and analytical/technical skills, including financial accounting, modeling and loan structuring.
• Experience negotiating Credit Agreements & loan documents and understanding closing processes.

Responsibilities

• Manages a portfolio of clients supporting underwriting and/or monitoring requirements with limited to moderate complexity.
• Independently works with Relationship Management and Risk teammates to understand structuring needs and requirements.
• Delivers financial modeling, loan structure, industry, economic, and other analyses to support loan decisions.
• Reviews work of junior teammates to provide feedback and ensure compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policy procedures.
• Has credit approval for certain credit actions.
• Leads loan structure conversations and completion of loan documentation with internal/external legal partners.
