Job summary

Varo Bank seeks a Credit Strategy Manager to expand access to credit and launch new products. You will shape underwriting, pricing, and credit policies using data from across risk, product, and engineering teams to balance growth with responsible risk management.

You will analyze portfolio performance with SQL, Python, and Excel, present insights to executives, and lead rigorous A/B testing to refine credit policies and pricing models.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and managing credit strategy in Fintech or retail banking.
• Strong understanding of credit risk management across origination, account management and collections.
• Experience leveraging alternative data and FCRA-compliant internal data to drive underwriting decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement credit strategies for lending products from ideation to post-launch monitoring.
• Propose data-driven policy changes to improve profitability and access to credit.
• Use SQL, Python, R and Excel to analyze data on loan performance and strategic initiatives.
• Create and present analyses to stakeholders and executives, explaining variances and profitability impacts.
• Design and run rigorous A/B testing frameworks to iterate on policies and pricing models.
