Our client is seeking a Credit Specialist/Jr. Underwriter to join our fast-moving and rapidly growing organization composed of highly skilled yet collegial team members. The ideal candidate, preferably from the financial/accounting sector, will have some of the skills and abilities, and, most importantly, the desire to master the art of financial analysis. The position is a newly created role reporting to the Chief Credit Officer.

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite loan applications by evaluating applicant information and documentation.
• Attend to the needs of customers seeking loans.
• Review and analyze client-provided documents submitted for underwriting purposes.
• Investigate prospective clients via publicly available information.
• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for loans.
• Counsel applicants on loan repayment policies and restrictions.
• Analyze potential loan markets to find opportunities to promote loans and financial services.
• Make decisions on loan approvals within established lending limits or make recommendations to a supervisor.
• Make recommendations to clients on financial and organizational structure and practices.
• Work with senior officers on larger loans.
• Follow loan status supporting other departments who service our loans over the length of the relationship.
• Support creation of new product offerings, including modeling assumptions, underwriting standard development, capital evaluations, and risk analysis.

Experience and Education:

• 1 to 3 years’ experience performing financial statement analysis and understanding the financial picture reflected by reading tax returns and bank statements.
• Experience underwriting loan applications is a plus but not necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CFA, CPA, or parts passed preferred.
