Job summary

Sallie Mae is seeking a Sr. Associate, Credit Risk Analytics to join the 2nd Line of Defense. You will perform analytical reviews of credit risk across underwriting, portfolio management, and loss mitigation, and help design the risk oversight framework with appetite, thresholds, and limits.

You will create Power BI dashboards, develop Python and SQL solutions, and collaborate with partners and regulators during portfolio exams to drive risk insight and governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, or related quantitative science.
• Advance SQL coding with at least 2 years experience.
• Experience with credit analytics, financial services or credit strategy.
• Experience with statistical tools such as SAS, Python, R, Tableau.
• Two years building dashboards with Power BI and the DAX language.
• Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Support 2nd Line of Defense analytical review of credit risk across the entire life cycle.
• Design and develop Power BI dashboards for risk reporting across multiple risk domains.
• Develop Python scripts and SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate analytic needs into technical specifications.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy in risk reporting processes.
• Document and communicate results to senior leadership.
