Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Credit Risk Analyst for a prominent financial services provider in Welkom, Free State. The role focuses on assessing and managing credit risk across the lending portfolio, with emphasis on quantitative analysis, financial statement interpretation, and robust risk reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in finance/economics/statistics, at least three years of credit risk experience, strong Excel skills, and knowledge of SA regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or related financial role.
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, and financial modeling.
• Proficiency in Excel, including data analysis functions and charting.
• Knowledge of credit scoring methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage individual responsibilities.
• Familiarity with the South African credit environment and regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze credit applications and financial statements to assess creditworthiness of individuals and businesses.
• Develop and maintain credit scoring models and risk assessment tools.
• Monitor the credit quality of the loan portfolio, identifying potential concerns and recommending actions.
• Prepare detailed credit reports and risk assessments for loan approval committees.
• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Conduct portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate risk under adverse conditions.
• Collaborate with loan officers and relationship managers to provide expertise on credit risk matters.
• Identify trends and patterns in credit data to improve risk management strategies.
• Contribute to development and implementation of new credit products and policies.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to credit risk.
