Briggs & Stratton is seeking a Credit Analyst in Milwaukee, WI to approve or decline credit limit requests while maximizing sales and cash flow. You will analyze financial data, perform ratio analysis, and maintain credit files for domestic and international accounts.

The role requires collaboration with A/R and Sales to mitigate risk and ensure timely reviews. The ideal candidate has a finance-related degree, 3+ years in credit or customer service, and strong Excel/SAP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field OR equivalent education and experience.
  • At least three years of experience in the credit or customer service field.
  • Experience with MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Administer credit granting for a portfolio of domestic and/or international accounts.
  • Analyze and update customer credit files with financial data and credit bureau reports.
  • Investigate and analyze credit risk within established guidelines and authority.
  • Review existing customer files and ensure periodic credit reviews are completed on time.
  • Assist with over-limit requests and coordinate with A/R to resolve issues.
  • Partner with A/R staff to meet portfolio goals and mitigate bad debt risk.
  • Keep Sales and Credit management informed of credit issues.
  • Support management with routine administrative tasks and risk reviews.

Job description

As a Credit Analyst your goal is to approve or decline credit limit requests for a portfolio of accounts in accordance with established policies, practices and procedures in a manner that will result in maximum sales, sound receivables and the prompt conversion into cash with a minimum of past dues balances and bad debt loss.

You Will Do This By
  • Administering the credit granting function on new and existing customers for an assigned portfolio of domestic and/or international accounts with an emphasis on obtaining financial statements and performing ratio analysis to achieve objectives and goals.
  • Analyzing and updating the customer credit file as needed with credit bureau reports, financial statements and other current financial data necessary to make a credit limit decision or recommendation as per the assigned delegation of authority.
  • Performing investigation and analysis of credit risk and/or financial information, working within established guidelines, policies and procedures for Domestic dealers and other small ticket Domestic or International customers.
  • Reviewing information on file for existing customers and ensuring periodic credit file update reviews are done on time and in accordance with policy using collected financial data including credit scores if available.
  • Ensuring over limit requests are handled on time and in accordance with policy and reviews the weekly over limit report, working with the assigned A/R Analyst for resolution.
  • Partnering with assigned A/R staff to achieve portfolio goals as related to the collection of accounts receivable. Working to mitigate risk situations with collateral as appropriate and to reduce or eliminate bad debt risk.
  • Keeping all key stakeholders, including Sales and Credit management informed of any problematic credit issues.
  • Working with assigned A/R staff to recommend to management accounts for write-off or placement for collection.
  • Supporting credit management with daily, weekly or monthly and/or annual administrative tasks which may include but are not limited to compliance with audit requests, preparation of reports or special analysis or scheduled financial risk review of assigned portfolio.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field OR equivalent education and experience
  • At least three years of experience in the credit or customer service field
  • Experience using finance and credit concepts including a basic understanding of commercial / consumer law.
  • B2B and/or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with spreadsheet software - MS Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP system - SAP preferred
  • Ability to consult with internal and external customers to resolve complaints
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse partners both internally and externally.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, self- motivated and demonstrates effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize without much supervision.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
