Job summary

Briggs & Stratton, LLC. seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to support the power manufacturing facility. You will lead month-end closing, prepare complex reports, analyze production costs, and work with engineering and production managers to drive financial insights on the shop floor.

You will partner with external auditors, perform standard costing for new materials, and model ROI for capital projects while aiding AOP/forecast cycles for labor, overhead and capital expenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of accounting/finance experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Manufacturing accounting experience preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills to review accounting data and prepare reconciliations
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel and related spreadsheet software
  • Fluent in English; primary language used in area of responsibility

Responsibilities

  • Supporting month-end closing of varying complexity including accruals and journal entries.
  • Preparing complex reports daily, weekly and monthly (inventory, production, cost of quality).
  • Reviewing variance postings for accuracy and correcting transactions.
  • Performing financial analysis and communicating findings for management decisions.
  • Identifying improvements for managerial and operational controls.
  • Coordinating with external auditors and providing required documentation.
  • Performing standard costing procedures for new materials or finished goods.
  • Assessing capital expenditure requests via ROI and payback analysis.
  • Supporting annual operating plan and forecasting for the plant.

Job description

As a Financial Analyst Senior your goal is to support the power business unit at our manufacturing facility through leading and performing complex accounting functions such as: month-end closing, reporting, analysis of operations, and other analysis process-related activities. #LI-MD1 #LI-Onsite

You will do this by:

  • Supporting month-end closing of varying complexity which includes: calculating accrual/reserve balances, analyzing general ledger account data for accuracy, booking various other journal entries and statistical key figures.
  • Preparing complex reports daily, weekly and monthly, which may include but not be limited to inventory, production, and cost of quality.
  • Reviewing variance account postings for accuracy throughout the month and correcting system transactions.
  • Reviewing detail of accounts and following-up on month-end closing items when necessary.
  • Performing financial analysis and communicating findings to enable management to make informed business decisions and take action.
  • Identifying and recommending improvements for managerial and operational controls.
  • Working with external auditors quarterly and at year-end; including providing audit work papers as well as requested supporting documentation, walking auditors through calculations and providing data for various other detailed testing.
  • Performing standard costing procedures in a timely manner on any new materials or finished goods as they are set up within the plant.
  • Assessing potential capital expense requests through financial modeling of ROI and payback durations while monitoring realized versus forecasted project expenditures.
  • Supporting AOP and forecasting cycles for the plant, working closely with department heads to build accurate labor, overhead, and capital expense budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR equivalent education and experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to review/analyze accounting and financial data, substantiate financial statement balances and prepare financial statement account reconciliation
  • High ability to identify, measure, evaluate & improve, if necessary, the effectiveness of accounting, financial, managerial and operational controls
  • Strong verbal & written communication & interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of people in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interface with all levels
  • Advanced computer skills including advanced knowledge of and experience working with spreadsheet software
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects with a strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
