Briggs & Stratton seeks a Corporate Financial Analyst in Milwaukee to support corporate groups through month-end close, controllership, and strategic reporting. You’ll combine precise accounting with automation and AI tools to improve data accuracy and insight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Solid GAAP understanding and financial controls.
  • Experience with reconciliations and month-end close processes.
  • Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Interest in AI-driven financial tools and automation.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close including accruals and adjusting entries.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and maintain account rigor.

Job description

As a Corporate Financial Analyst, you will support assigned corporate business group(s) through core accounting functions, the month-end close, operational analysis, and strategic financial reporting. In this role, you will combine detail-oriented accounting with modern financial tools—leveraging automation and AI capabilities to streamline processes, enhance data accuracy, and deliver actionable business insights.

You Will Do This By
  • Performing Month-End Closing: Calculate accrual and reserve balances, evaluate subjective accounts, analyze general ledger data for precision, and execute necessary adjusting journal entries and statistical key figures.
  • Maintaining Account Rigor: Review detailed account ledgers, track follow-up action items, and prepare thorough monthly reconciliations for review.
  • Partnering on FP&A & Budgeting: Collaborate with business and finance leaders to analyze budget/forecast variances, build annual operating budgets, and refine forecasts.
  • Innovating & Automating: Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation tools, and modern accounting technologies to optimize routine workflows and improve data visibility.
  • Driving Audit Compliance: Support the external audit by walking audit teams through calculations and supplying documentation for detailed testing.

Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Core Accounting Skills: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), account reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Technical Savvy: Exposure to Excel/spreadsheet tools and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Familiarity with or enthusiasm for implementing AI-driven financial tools, data analytics, or process automation is highly valued.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to evaluate, measure, and enhance the effectiveness of financial, operational, and controls.
  • Detail & Project Management: Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate financial concepts to diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Language: Fluent in written and spoken English.
