Job summary

Wintrust Financial Corporation seeks a Commercial Loan Underwriter to assess new and renewal small business loans. You will perform cash flow analyses, evaluate debt service ratios, and ensure completeness and due diligence in loan files.

You will present loan decisions per underwriting criteria, support Relationship Managers, and explore alternative financing when borrowers don’t qualify. Join a collaborative team with strong community banking roots and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field
• At least 2 years of commercial/small business loans underwriting experience
• At least 3 years of commercial/small business loans underwriting experience if no Bachelor's degree
• Previous experience with Regulation B
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Credit review and analysis of new and renew small business loans, including calculations of cash flow and debt service ratios
• Analyze and review loans for completeness and other required due diligence
• Present loan decisions in accordance with underwriting criteria
• Identify alternative financing options for borrowers that do not qualify for their original requests
• Apply delegated credit authorities per policies and procedures
• Work closely with Relationship Managers to build strong customer relationships
• Other duties as directed

What You'll Do

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $53,000-$77,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, skills and experience.
