Position Summary

The Credentialed Medical Assistant provides age‑appropriate and culturally sensitive care, maintains a safe environment, collects information, communicates effectively, and utilizes technology to deliver high‑quality medical care and excellent customer service. The role includes patient advocacy, teaching, and performance improvement activities within ambulatory clinical settings.

Job Duties

• Provide patient care tasks and selected therapies delegated by a licensed professional, including patient advocacy, teaching, and performance improvement.
• Function in the ambulatory setting of the clinical area.
• Assist with daily clinical operations and routine administrative and clinical protocols applicable to a physician’s office setting.
• Triage and prepare patients for examination and specialty procedures.
• Process patients’ referrals, tests, and surgery promptly; manage pre‑authorization in a timely manner to ensure reimbursement.
• Maintain accurate electronic tracking logs and records of all referrals with dispositions for quality‑assurance purposes.
• Apply knowledge of exam room and patient preparation procedures.
• Apply knowledge of basic laboratory techniques and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related clinical experience.
• High school diploma required.
• Current valid certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or CCMA).
• Knowledge of aseptic/sterile techniques and wound care.
• Skill in administering medications.
• Skill in triaging patient records and maintaining inventories.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of college education or an Associate’s degree preferred.

Special Instructions

Employment in this role may be contingent upon extramural funding and successful performance and may be terminated or reduced in percentage of appointment if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.
