Job summary

Visalia Post Acute in Visalia, California, seeks a friendly Part-Time Activities Assistant to plan and lead engaging programs for residents. You will work under the Activities Director to support well-being through creative, social, and meaningful activities.

The role emphasizes compassion, creativity, and teamwork, with a flexible schedule and opportunities to develop programs that match residents’ interests and needs. Prior experience with seniors is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
• Experience working with seniors or individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• Creative, enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate personality.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, policies, and instructional materials.
• Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• No professional license or certification required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct individual, small-, and large-group activities.
• Lead games, crafts, music, social events, and programs.
• Maintain monthly activity calendar.
• Keep accurate attendance records.
• Encourage participation in group and self-directed activities.
• Provide materials for residents, including audiobooks and Braille resources.
• Offer in-room activities for bed-bound residents.
• Coordinate outings and transportation as needed.
• Support care plans and progress notes as assigned.
• Build positive relationships with residents and families.
• Communicate with staff, partners, and regulators.
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement plans.
• Keep department clean, organized, and compliant with policies.
• Protect residents' privacy and health information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
