Job summary

Visalia Post Acute in Visalia, CA is seeking an energetic Part-Time Activities Assistant to join our team. Under the direction of the Activities Director, you will help plan and conduct a variety of activities for residents, supporting their physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, prior senior-care experience preferred, and a creative, compassionate personality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in long-term-care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Experience with seniors or individuals with disabilities is a plus.
• Creative, enthusiastic, patient and compassionate personality.
• Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and understand procedures, policies, and instructional materials.
• Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• No professional license or certification required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct individual, small-group, and large-group activities.
• Lead games, crafts, music, social events, recreational programs, and other activities.
• Develop and maintain the monthly activity calendar.
• Maintain accurate activity attendance records.
• Encourage participation in group programs and self-directed activities.
• Provide materials for residents, including audiobooks, large-print materials, or Braille resources.
• Offer in-room activities for bed-bound residents and coordinate transportation when needed.
• Support resident assessments and discharge planning.
