Job description

Future-Able is partnering with a client to identify an experienced Creative Production Project Manager for a complex, technology-enabled entertainment production.

The production brings together creative development, digital production, live performance, emerging technology, and a network of specialized vendors and independent contributors. Once developed, the show is expected to move into live exhibition and touring environments.

The Creative Production Project Manager will bring structure, visibility, and coordination across these interconnected workstreams. This person will translate production direction into organized plans, schedules, deliverables, ownership, and next steps, while helping ensure that decisions are made on time, dependencies are understood, and contributors remain aligned.

This is a hybrid role based in the greater Los Angeles area, with a combination of remote work and regular in-person collaboration based on production needs.

The position is not responsible for establishing the creative vision or making final creative, technical, or production decisions. It is also broader and more experienced than a traditional Production Assistant or Production Coordinator role. The primary focus is project management, production planning, workflow coordination, stakeholder alignment, and follow-through across a complex and evolving production.

What You Will Do
  • Build and maintain an integrated production plan across creative, digital production, technology, live production, and external vendor workstreams.
  • Translate production direction into clearly defined tasks, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, decision points, and deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain the central project management system used as the production’s primary source of truth.
  • Coordinate workflows across production leaders, creative partners, technical contributors, vendors, independent contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Track deliverables through assignment, development, review, revision, approval, and final handoff.
  • Maintain visibility into upcoming reviews, approvals, asset transfers, rehearsals, technical needs, and other production milestones.
  • Organize recurring production meetings, workstream reviews, and vendor coordination sessions.
  • Prepare agendas focused on decisions, risks, dependencies, and required next steps.
  • Document decisions, action items, accountable owners, and deadlines.
  • Follow up consistently to ensure commitments are completed and unresolved issues continue moving toward resolution.
  • Maintain production calendars, action trackers, decision logs, approval records, risk registers, and status reports.
  • Identify schedule risks, missing inputs, unresolved decisions, resource constraints, and cross-workstream dependencies.
  • Communicate the downstream implications of delays, changing requirements, or incomplete decisions.
  • Coordinate vendor onboarding, schedules, deliverables, review cycles, asset handoffs, and outstanding commitments.
  • Create clear visibility into what has been completed, what is underway, what is blocked, and what requires leadership attention.
  • Help production leaders distinguish immediate priorities from longer-term needs.
  • Support changes to scope, sequencing, timelines, and production assumptions while maintaining clear documentation.
  • Help establish repeatable project management practices, workflows, templates, and operating rhythms that can support future productions.
  • Provide additional production coordination and administrative support as needed, while maintaining primary ownership of project planning and workflow management.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience managing complex creative, entertainment, digital-production, experiential, agency, VFX, animation, music, live-event, touring, post-production, or technology-enabled projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple interconnected workstreams involving internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and creative partners.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, production schedules, dependencies, deliverables, reviews, approvals, feedback cycles, and asset handoffs.
  • Ability to create structure and forward momentum in an environment where scope, technology, and production processes continue to evolve.
  • Exceptional organization, documentation, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Strong meeting facilitation and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Confidence working with senior creative, production, and technical leaders.
  • Ability to hold stakeholders accountable in a constructive and professional manner.
  • Sound judgment about when to resolve an issue independently and when to escape it.
  • Ability to communicate the implications of delays, shifting priorities, or incomplete decisions clearly.
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Monday.com, Asana, Smartsheet, Airtable, Jira, or comparable systems.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where processes are being built alongside the production.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and participate in in-person meetings and production activity in the greater Los Angeles area.
Particularly Relevant Backgrounds
Strong candidates may come from:
  • Advertising and integrated agency production
  • Creative agencies and content studios
  • Music production
  • Concert and touring production
  • Live events and theatrical production
  • Experiential production
  • Animation, VFX, or post-production
  • Virtual production or creative technology
  • Branded entertainment
  • Gaming or interactive content

Prior immersive entertainment experience is welcome but is not required.

What Success Looks Like
  • Production leadership has accurate and current visibility into the project.
  • Contributors understand what they own and when it is due.
  • Meetings result in clear decisions, owners, and next steps.
  • Vendor commitments and deliverables are actively tracked.
  • Risks and schedule concerns are surfaced before they affect downstream work.
  • Creative, digital, technical, and live-production workstreams remain coordinated.
  • Decisions and approvals are made with enough time to support downstream execution.
  • The production becomes more organized, predictable, and manageable over time.
  • Repeatable production processes are established for future projects and touring activity.

The role supports a broader production model built around integrated digital and live production, disciplined schedule management, coordinated use of external partners, and the creation of repeatable production workflows that improve reliability and predictability over time.

  • Based in the greater Los Angeles area
  • Hybrid working arrangement, with a combination of remote work and regular in-person collaboration based on production needs
  • Expected to begin in the near term
  • Initial engagement tied to the development and production of an active entertainment project
  • Potential for extension as the production progresses
  • Availability required for meetings involving multiple stakeholders and time zones
  • Some travel and on-site production support may be required as the project progresses
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience
