Job summary

The Institute of Culinary Education, New York City Campus, is seeking a part-time Pastry and Baking Recreational Chef Instructor to lead the hands-on recreational classes in ICE lesson plans. The chef will ensure the highest quality food service and experience for clients.

Qualified candidates will have a culinary diploma or formal culinary education, pastry and baking background, and excellent communication and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Culinary diploma or formal culinary education is required.
• Minimum of 7 years culinary experience; teaching experience preferred.
• Pastry and Baking background is required.
• Flexible schedule including weekends and evenings to accommodate ICE class and event schedules.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with other departments and teams.
• Working knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Teach Baking and Pastry recreational classes and events.
• Demonstrate techniques per ICE lesson plans.
• Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures.
• Aid student/guest performance through observation and interaction.
• Maintain a positive, focused learning environment during class.
• Ensure classes comply with food safety, sanitation and beverage management.
• Prepare, set up and breakdown class ingredients and equipment.
