Job summary

The Institute of Culinary Education, New York City Campus, is seeking a part-time Pastry and Baking Recreational Chef Instructor. The chef will lead hands-on recreational cooking classes in ICE proprietary lesson plans and ensure high-quality food service and client experiences.

Requirements include a culinary diploma and at least 7 years of culinary experience; prior teaching is preferred. Flexible weekends/evenings and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or formal Culinary Education.
  • Minimum of 7 years culinary experience.
  • Prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Pastry and Baking background required.
  • Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class and event schedules.
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Pastry and Baking Recreational Chef Instructor Part-time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Institute of Culinary Education, New York City Campus, is seeking a part-time Pastry and Baking Recreational Chef Instructor. The chef will be responsible for leading the hands‑on recreational cooking classes in conformity with ICE proprietary class lessons. The chef will be responsible for ensuring that the highest quality food service and experience for clients are consistently delivered.

  • Teach Baking and Pastry recreational classes and special events

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Culinary diploma or some form of formal Culinary Education
  • Minimum of 7 years culinary experience
  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Pastry and Baking background required
  • Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class and event schedules
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with other departments and teams
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel

WHAT WE OFFER:

PAY: $ 160.00 per 3- to 5-hour Recreational Class / $220.00 per Special Event

Up-to $650.00 per year reimbursement program for any combination of the following:

  • Tuition Assistance
  • Dues in Culinary and/or professional organizations
  • Subscriptions to professional and culinary magazines or purchase of related books.
