Job summary

J.Crew Group, a premium American lifestyle brand, seeks a Senior Designer for Women’s Outerwear and Tailoring to drive creative vision and technical execution from concept through production. You will lead the category, source fabrics, and shape seasonal capsules with a strong emphasis on fit, finish, and market performance.

You will mentor designers, partner with Merchandising and Production, and present concepts to leadership with polished CAD artwork and boards.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive experience in apparel design with a focus on outerwear, tailoring, or structured wovens.
Experience mentoring and developing direct reports on a design team.
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for creating artwork, tech packs, concept boards, and presentation materials; experience with Miro and Procreate.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of women’s outerwear, tailored separates, and structured leather apparel each season from concept to production approval.
Conduct global research on seasonal silhouette, color, and fabric innovation to inform direction.
Develop and source premium fabrics, yarns, trims, leather treatments, and construction techniques with Production and Sourcing.
Lead fittings for outerwear and suiting, ensuring garment construction, drape, and tailoring standards.
Partner with Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design to protect product integrity and maximize gross margin.
Manage, mentor, and coach assistant and associate designers to drive accountability.
Create professional presentation boards, CAD artwork, and illustrations to communicate seasonal vision to leadership.
