Job summary

Chernoff Newman is seeking an art director intern to gain hands-on experience in the advertising industry. The internship runs across fall, spring, and summer, with in-person work at our Columbia, Charleston, or Charlotte offices.

Ideal candidates are curious, collaborative, and interested in marketing/advertising, with a related degree or portfolio of work. Interns work 15-20 hours weekly and are paid $12 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with comps and other design needs (Creative Cloud experience a must).
• Concepting (idea development and brainstorming sessions).
• Art direction support/shadowing with agency Art Directors.
• Attending internal meetings (briefings, brainstorming sessions, reviews).

The Chernoff Newman internship program aims to offer a well-rounded experience that includes a deep dive of agency life. Chernoff Newman’s interns do not simply fetch coffee or stuff envelopes; they are immersed in our client and agency business work.

The program offers three internships each year in the fall, spring and summer semesters, aligning with the applicant’s schedule (school or other).

Chernoff Newman is looking for art director intern applicants who are fascinated with the ad industry, are looking to hone their design and ideation skills, and are generally curious about culture at large. Art director interns at Chernoff will have many opportunities to grow and learn, and the agency also expects to learn and grow from the intern’s experiences and interests.

The selected candidate will work in-person at the Columbia, Charleston, or Charlotte office.
